Nigel A A McFarlane is Company Secretary as well as a Director.

Before joining Blue Sea International, he was employed at the Bank of Bermuda, Isle of Man and at Caledonian Trust (IOM) Limited between January 2003 and November 2004. Nigel worked for Fortis Fund Services (IOM) Limited from 1997 to 2002, latterly as Account Manager, responsible for the valuation of clients’ funds and all aspects of administration for new and existing clients.

To broaden his knowledge of offshore financial services, in 2001 he spent three months on secondment in Grand Cayman. His professional career began at Clerical Medical International in 1993, where he gained experience in fund administration and insurance accounting.

Nigel studied at the University of Durham, gaining an honours degree in Latin, and at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, admitted in March 2001 and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment ("CISI"). In December 2008, he completed the Islamic Finance Qualification awarded jointly by the CISI and the Ecole Superieure des Affaires, Beirut.
